Caburlesque History

Caburlesque was set up in 2005 by four individuals, and is owned and operated by them:

Helen Spall, Tom Course, Wayne Burke and Graham Cutting.

It started a couple of years earlier when Helen and Tom set up a monthly show at Middlesex University called 'The Late Show', a cabaret and variety show for the students.

With Helen as artistic director inviting student talent to perform and crafting themed shows each month.

The shows went from strength to strength, gathering audience and participants along the way. When they left the university in 2005 they wanted to recreate the shows for a public audience, and give the newly graduated students from middlesex uni a chance to perform in the real world. With a few tweaks, a clearer idea of image and the brand new name Caburlesque was born. They put on their first show at Jacks in London bridge, to a packed house and an appreciative audience.

Since then the company has gone from strength to strength, moving into a larger, more elegant venue at the Clapham Grand, auditioning for new blood to join the company, producing a new show each year and touring it to various theatres, and sending our performers out for a variety of bespoke shows for a huge variety of customers.

Hopefully, in time we wiill be able to tour our shows all around the country on a regular basis and open our own dedicated cabaret venue.
